On the removal of rare and endangered species of fish and other aquatic animals for scientific research and reproductive purposes
Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 27, 2026, No. 333
In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 15 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Protection, Reproduction and Use of Wildlife,” the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan RESOLVES:
1. To permit the removal of:
1) 66 Caspian seals for scientific research and tagging, followed by release into their natural habitat, between April 27 and December 31, 2026, on the islands of Durneva, Tyuleni, Kendirli, and Remontnye Shalygi (Aktoty) in the Mangystau and Atyrau regions.
2) Aral spiny sturgeon for scientific purposes to form a breeding stock and their subsequent artificial reproduction between April 27 and December 31, 2026, in a volume of 500 kilograms from the Ili and Karatal rivers, Lake Balkhash, and the Kapshagai Reservoir within the Almaty Region and the Zhetysu Region.
3) nelma for scientific purposes to form a breeding stock for subsequent artificial reproduction between April 27 and November 30, 2026, in the amount of 100 kilograms from the Yertis River within the Abay Region and the Pavlodar Region.
2. The fee rates for the extraction of one kilogram of Aral sturgeon should be set at 0.064 of the monthly calculation index, for one kilogram of nelma at 0.017 of the monthly calculation index, and for one individual of the Caspian seal at 1.93 of the monthly calculation index.
3. The Committee of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the procedure established by law, shall issue a permit for the use of fish resources and other aquatic animals for the specified volumes of seizure of individuals of Caspian seals, Aral thorn and nelma for scientific research and for reproductive purposes to legal entities accredited as subjects of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities.
4. This resolution shall enter into force from the date of its signing.
