Article 232. Environmental requirements for the zoning and use of industrial, transport, communications, defense and other non-agricultural lands of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The zoning of industrial, transport, communications, defense and other non-agricultural lands ensures environmental safety.
2. In order to ensure environmental safety and create the necessary conditions for the operation of industrial, transport and other facilities, zones are established, taking into account the creation of special conditions for the use of these lands, contributing to the improvement of the environment.
3. When transferring industrial, transport, communications, defense and other non-agricultural lands to lands of other categories, zones within which activities incompatible with the objectives of establishing zones are restricted or prohibited are taken into account.
4. An additional environmental criterion for the transfer of industrial, transport, communications, defense and other non-agricultural lands to lands of other categories is their contamination with chemicals above the levels established in the environmental criteria for land assessment. Lands classified as highly polluted are subject to conservation and are transferred to reserve lands.
