Article 16. Transfer of lands, buildings, structures, facilities and other property for defense needs The Law on Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The land plots provided for the deployment and permanent activities of the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations are in their possession and use.
2. The compulsory alienation of a land plot for defense needs and its compensation to owners and land users are carried out in accordance with the Land Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On State Property".
3. For the needs of defense, buildings, structures, facilities and other property are transferred to the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations, and they can also be returned in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
4. The requisition of property for defense needs during the period of martial law and wartime is carried out in the case and in accordance with the procedure established by legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
5. The procedure for granting ownership and use of property, as well as the procedure for temporary paid land use (lease) to military formations of other states, are determined by international treaties ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This Law regulates public relations in the field of organization of defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the functions and powers of state bodies in ensuring the country's defense capability, the rights and obligations of citizens and organizations in the field of defense.
