Article 17. Scientific support of defense and personnel training The Law on Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. Scientific support for defense is aimed at a comprehensive study of the problems of the military organization of the state, solving the tasks of increasing the country's defense capability by scientific methods, carrying out development work, including dual-use, as well as the development of national military scientific potential.
2. Subjects of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall carry out defense research in order to meet the needs of defense.
3. The procedure for financing defense research is determined by the Ministry of Defense.
4. The training and retraining of military and military scientific personnel is carried out in military educational institutions, educational organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in foreign educational organizations on the basis of international treaties.

This Law regulates public relations in the field of organization of defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the functions and powers of state bodies in ensuring the country's defense capability, the rights and obligations of citizens and organizations in the field of defense.
