Article 150. Exemption of a spouse from the obligation to support another spouse or limitation of this obligation by the term of the Marriage (Matrimony) and Family Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan
1. The court may release the spouse from the obligation to support another disabled spouse in need of assistance or limit this obligation to a certain period both during the marriage (matrimony) and after its dissolution in the following cases::
1) if the disability of the spouse in need of assistance has occurred as a result of the abuse of gambling, betting, alcoholic beverages, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, or as a result of the commission of a deliberate criminal offense;
2) the short duration (up to five years) of the spouses' stay in marriage (matrimony);
3) improper behavior in the spouse's family, requiring alimony payments.
2. The obligation to support the former spouse is terminated by a court decision in the following cases::
1) the entry of a spouse entitled to maintenance into a new marriage (matrimony);
2) the circumstances provided for in Article 148 of this Code have disappeared.
