Article 10. The age of marriage of the Code on Marriage (Matrimony) and Family of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Article 10. The age of marriage of the Code on Marriage (Matrimony) and Family of the Republic of Kazakhstan

     1. The age of marriage is set for men and women at eighteen years of age.

     2. The registration authorities at the place of state registration of marriage (matrimony) reduce the age of marriage for a period of no more than two years if there are the following valid reasons:

     1) pregnancy;

     2) the birth of a common child.

     3. A petition for lowering the age of marriage may be submitted by those wishing to marry and their parents or guardians, indicating the reasons for the need to reduce the established age of marriage.

     4. Reduction of the age of marriage is allowed only with the consent of the persons entering into marriage.

     5. Marriage (matrimony) between persons who have not reached the age of marriage or a person who has reached the age of marriage with a person who has not reached the age of marriage is permitted only with the written consent of the parents or guardians of persons who have not reached the age of marriage.
