Article 100. Legal consequences of the adoption of a child of the Marriage (Matrimony) and Family Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan  

     1. The adopted child and his offspring in relation to the adoptive parents and their relatives, and the adoptive parents and their relatives in relation to the adopted child and his offspring are equated in personal non-property and property rights and obligations to relatives by origin.

     2. An adopted child loses his personal non-property and property rights and is released from duties towards his blood parents.

     3. When adopting a child by one person, personal non-property and property rights and obligations may be retained at the request of the mother if the adoptive parent is a man, or at the request of the father if the adoptive parent is a woman.

     4. The responsibility for the safety of the property owned by the adopted child lies with the adoptive parent. In case of refusal of adoption, the obligation to return this property is also assigned to the adoptive parent.

     5. The preservation of the adopted child's relationship with one of the parents or with the relatives of the deceased parent is indicated in the court's decision on the adoption of the child.

     6. The legal consequences of the adoption of a child provided for in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this article occur regardless of whether the adoptive parents are recorded as parents in the register of records of the birth of this child.
